Kevin Durant, now 36 years old, has seen just about everything in the game of basketball. After a standout high school career, he played one season at the University of Texas, where he was named Big 12 Player of the Year and National College Player of the Year.
Durant was selected second overall in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics, which has since relocated to Oklahoma. Throughout his career, Durant’s played in five different cities and is now set to begin his next NBA stop with the Houston Rockets this upcoming season.
The 15-time NBA All-Star has won two NBA titles and was named Finals MVP both times. He also captured the regular season MVP award in 2014. Durant, a four-time NBA scoring champion, recently appeared on the "Mind the Game" podcast hosted by LeBron James and Steve Nash. During a conversation about late-game decision-making, Durant didn’t hold back.
“But when there’s five or six seconds on the clock, give the ball to the best player,” Durant said. “And if he shoots a mid-range at that point, then he shoots a mid-range. But we’re not going to waste the clock trying to look for a three. Two seconds on the clock and we’re giving it to, no disrespect, Dorian Finney-Smith with two seconds left to make a three.”
The comments on his new teammate turned heads across the internet, and in the video, LeBron James as well. Here are some of the fan comments:
This fan started it out: "Out of 400+ NBA players he picked “Dorian Finney Smith” but when I say sum bad about him I have no “ball knowledge”. Thank u Kd for backing me up."
The fan here wasn't as thrilled, however, as they added, "Cheap shot artist."
This one is going after LeBron more, noting, "Bron laughing like he don't be passing it to role players."
"This was before the trade but [expletive] KD," posted this fan.
The comment here reads, "This isn’t a roast it’s just facts…. Only real hoopers understand."
"This was hilarious lmao," said a basketball fan.

Durant was recently traded to the Rockets in a blockbuster deal that sent Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks — a first-round pick — and several future second-round picks to the Phoenix Suns. The deal becomes official when the new league year begins on July 6.
“Being part of the Houston Rockets, I’m looking forward to it,” Durant told Kay Adams on Sunday. “Crazy, crazy last couple weeks, but I’m glad it’s over with.”
Meanwhile, Dorian Finney-Smith, the player Durant referenced in the podcast, just signed a new contract with Houston earlier this week. His deal is reportedly worth $53 million over four years. This followed his decision to decline a $15.4 million player option with the Los Angeles Lakers.
