Analyst Offers Jets 'More Talented Than You Think' Take For 2025

The New York Jets are expected to struggle in 2025, but not everyone is convinced.

The New York Jets under Aaron Glenn, for most, aren't expected to amount to anything substantial in 2025, given the turnover both on and off the field.

But that doesn't mean they can't.

With Tanner Engstrand leading the offense and Steve Wilks the defense, the Jets will have a different vibe in the Big Apple, but not everyone thinks New York will seriously challenge.

However, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer thinks the Jets might be slightly better than people think in 2025.

"The Jets are another more-talented-than-you-think team," Breer wrote. "Both lines of scrimmage are loaded with first-rounders, and there are fewer holes than people may realize (and not one, at this point, that makes the team look truly deficient at a spot). So we’ll see whether Justin Fields can get the job done. The Steelers chose to make an effort to keep him rather than trying to keep Wilson, which is an indication of the impression he made in Pittsburgh."

Offensively, the Jets do have some weapons, with Fields, Garrett Wilson, and Breece Hall, along with Mason Taylor, Braelon Allen, and a stout offensive line. Defensively, the Jets have Quinnen Williams, Will McDonald, Brandon Stephens, Andre Cisco, and, of course, Sauce Gardner.

That is quite a bit to work with for Glenn, Engstrand, and Wilks, but the key is whether all of that can mesh together and create something tangible.

It didn't happen last season with Aaron Rodgers, but the hope is that with Glenn enforcing the standards and laying what he hopes will be a cultural foundation that helps bring success to the franchise, maybe New York might surprise some this season.

Yes, we get the skepticism, but the Washington Commanders showed that a franchise bounce-back doesn't have to take years to happen.
