The stock market on Monday picked up right where it left off the prior week.
The S&P 500, up 1.1%, is now off 0.2% from its Oct. 8 record. The Nasdaq Composite, up 1.5%, is 0.1% from its Oct. 8 closing high. And the Dow is up 520 points, or 1.1%, which puts it 0.1% away from its 12th record close of the year.
“The government remains shut down this morning as the stalemate between the two parties nears the start of its fourth week,” wrote Bespoke Investment Group co-founder Paul Hickey. “As has been the case nearly the entire time, though, the markets seem indifferent.”
