A NASCAR insider believes that Daniel Suarez might have a hard time finding a full-time spot for the 2026 Cup Series season. Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic predicted where Suarez would land next season after his split with Trackhouse Racing.
“Unfortunately for Suarez, he’s entering free agency at a time when not a lot of viable options exist,” Bianchi wrote. “Nearly all 36 full-time seats are already taken for next season. This is why many within the industry thought Suárez’s best opportunity to reset his career was to take a ride in NASCAR’s second-tier Xfinity Series, likely with Kaulig Racing or JR Motorsports, then re-enter free agency a year from now in what is anticipated to be a much more robust market.”
Bianchi also mentioned that Suarez wants to stay in the Cup Series, as he believes a ride will appear soon. One potential option is Spire Motorsports if the team moves on from Justin Haley, Bianchi wrote. But does Spire believe Daniel Suarez is an upgrade from Haley?
It’s been a good 2025 season for Daniel Suarez
The 2025 season has been a challenging one for Suarez, who reached the playoffs in 2024. The 33-year-old has recorded three top-10 finishes with one in the top five. In the last three races, Suarez has finished 26th, 27th and 25th.
On July 1, Trackhouse announced that the team and Suarez have agreed to part ways once the 2025 season ended. “Trackhouse and I have mutually agreed to part ways at the end of the 2025 season,” Suarez said at the time. “I’ve had some of the best years of my Cup Series career at Trackhouse. We had great successes as a team, and I gained some incredible friends.
“We took a team nobody had even heard of in 2021, and in just a couple of years, we were winning races and running up front on a weekly basis. Just like the seasons in a year, sometimes things change, and we have mutually agreed to each go in our own direction. I wish Trackhouse nothing but the best, this 99 team will always be special to me. And like I always say, the best is ahead!”
