On Friday, the Seattle Seahawks announced their selection of game captains ahead of their second matchup against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
This week’s captains are quarterback Sam Darnold, linebacker Drake Thomas, and defensive end Mike Morris. Morris will be making his season debut as a captain, serving alongside Darnold and Thomas, who have earned their fourth and second selections as game captains, respectively.
Thomas had a standout night vs. the Washington Commanders last week, recording eight tackles, one sack, and a QB hit in the Seahawks’ 38-14 Sunday Night Football victory. 2025 has been a breakout year for Thomas, who has now reached career highs of 40 tackles, six passes defended, four QB hits, and three sacks.
Morris has also had more of an impact in his third season, with 12 tackles and his first QB hit through eight appearances so far this season. The 24-year-old tallied three tackles in last week’s win over Washington, his most since Week 3 vs. the New Orleans Saints.
Darnold’s first year in Seattle has been on par with and often times better than his stint in Minneapolis last year, completing 70.4 percent of his passes for 2,084 yards and 16 touchdowns while possessing a league-leading 77.7 QBR. Needless to say, Darnold has impressed so far in his age-28 season.
The Seahawks’ second game versus the Cardinals will begin at 1:05 p.m. PT on Sunday.
