Alan Sheehan says he shares fans' frustrations over Swansea City's recent results but insists his team will turn their form around.

Swansea are 17th in the Championship with almost a third of the season behind them, having won only two of their past 10 games in the Championship.

Sheehan believes his team should have more points on the board, with Swansea's head coach convinced his team should have won at Charlton Athletic – where they drew – and Preston North End– where they lost – in the past week.

Swansea return home to face Ipswich Town on Saturday (15:00 GMT) with Sheehan adamant they are not far away from delivering on a more consistent basis.

"The fans have been at the football club a lot longer than me and they will be here a lot longer than me and all of us, so I respect the fans," Sheehan said.

"They are in love with their football club. Do I have enough credit in the bank as a first-time manager? I've never been in this place as a manager in terms of not winning consistently, so [people are asking] 'can he turn it around?'. I believe I can.

"I've been in football a long time, I've been in different environments, different situations and I can tell you we're not far away and we will be fine."

Swansea finished 11th in the second tier last season after Sheehan masterminded a significant upturn in fortunes following the departure of Luke Williams in February.

Sheehan's springtime success combined with a positive summer transfer window meant there was increased optimism – and expectation – heading into 2025-26, the Irishman's first full campaign at the helm.

But as yet, Swansea have been unable to match the standards set at the back-end of last season.

Sheehan says he understands if fans are frustrated because "everybody within the club" feels the same.

"It is ultimately small margins at the moment and coming out on the right side, but you earn that and then you build confidence and character, and you get to that place where you have a group that has that momentum," he said.

"We haven't got the number of points that we would have liked in this block, but it's something we address, we look at and we try to go into the game on Saturday and be a better version of ourselves.

"Whether we win or we lose, we keep on going and ultimately if you win that game against Charlton, you're trying to win the game against Preston to get into the play-off spots.

"So it's very, very tight and I think if you look at our games in isolation I think that we are in every game."

Swansea will hope for a second successive home league win when they meet 10th-placed Ipswich, having seen off Norwich City just under a fortnight ago.

The Canaries triumph was Swansea's only success in their past six second-tier games.

Zeidane Inoussa is rated at 50-50 to feature this weekend having missed the Preston trip with a knee injury, while Marko Stamenic will not be involved despite the fact that he has now returned to Swansea following a spell on compassionate leave.
