The Los Angeles Dodgers are one step closer to their goal of capturing their second consecutive World Series title. The last team to accomplish this feat came over 20 years ago when the New York Yankees won the World Series three times in a row from 1998 to 2000.
L.A. certainly has the talent to do so with guys like Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani, and arms like Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, and Roki Sasaki. The club will have the weekend off to recover before it faces either the Chicago Cubs or the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS.
Stacking up against either team will be challenging, and the Dodgers will have to be at their best. This includes Shohei Ohtani, who is coming off a rather unproductive NLDS.
While the Dodgers have advanced to the NLCS, they looked shaky at times against the Philadelphia Phillies. They made three errors during the four-game series, and the offense could have been better.
Veteran slugger Kiké Hernández knows the club did not reach its full potential during that series. However, he is confident his club can flip the switch in the NLCS, via the Los Angeles Times' Bill Shaikin.
"I think that we can be better," said Hernández. "We didn't necessarily defend the way we can defend. We didn't hit the way we can hit. Even though we beat a really, really good team, we can be even better. That just speaks volumes about this group. We have gone through so much together. We're battle-tested, and we're going to find a way to win a ballgame even when things are not going our way."
Watch out for the Dodgers to make the most of their time off and come out as an even stronger team. If they can do this, it might be a cakewalk to the World Series.
