Bengals' asking price for Trey Hendrickson revealed by insider

The Cincinnati Bengals, while they beat the Pittsburgh Steelers to get to 3-4, could still be open to a Trey Hendrickson trade. While the Bengals likely wouldn't trade him if they're back in the thick of a playoff race, if they lose a few more games, he could be available.

The All-Pro pass rusher would have plenty of teams interested in him, and there would likely be competition in the trade market for his services. If such a scenario does occur, what would it take to land Hendrickson?

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, if the Bengals do entertain a trade, their asking price wouldn't be the same as it was in the offseason. Instead, the Bengals are looking to land both a player and a draft pick in return for Hendrickson.

“Teams are going to call," Rapoport said. "I would expect Hendrickson to be a big-time trade target. As far as what it might take, well, I am told it is a young player who would help the Bengals this year and into the future, and a future mid-round pick if the Bengals are even willing to do it.”

Cincinnati, if they decide to move on from Hendrickson this season, would be looking for a young player and a mid-round draft choice in the NFL Draft. It's a non-traditional ask, as the Bengals could still look to be competitive even if they move the veteran pass rusher.

Hendrickson signed a revised $29 million deal through the 2025 season and will be a free agent at year's end. A team trading for him would either have to sign him to a huge extension or accept that he's going to be a rental.

Finding a team that's willing to give up the compensation the Bengals are asking for, while accepting that they might be getting just 10 or so games out of Hendrickson, is a tall task.

The four-time Pro Bowl pass rusher has four sacks and 12 pressures this season, and while he missed the Bengals' Week 7 matchup against the Steelers, he's not expected to be out for long.

While a fit might be hard to find, his back-to-back seasons with 17.5 sacks are very appealing for an NFL contender. The San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions, and Philadelphia Eagles are three teams that make a lot of sense if Hendrickson were to be available.

Of those three, the Eagles might be the most desperate and could be a reasonable fit for a trade. Following Rapoport's standards, the Eagles could send a third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and second-year pass rusher Jaylx Hunt for Hendrickson.

Howie Roseman might not be so aggressive, but Hunt would be a young player who plays the same position as Hendrickson, and the Eagles have multiple third-round picks, making their loss of a third rounder sting less.

For now, a trade doesn't seem too likely after a strong win in Week 7. But, if the Bengals do decide to move the 31-year-old pass rusher, their desired compensation, a young player and a mid-round pick, is now firmly established.
