Texas Receives Exciting Message From Nation's No. 1 QB

Jul 21, 2025 3:42 PM EDT

Led by head coach Steve Sarkisian, the Texas Longhorns have established themselves as one of the best teams in college football when it comes to landing high-level talent out of high school.

They’ve quickly gotten to work regarding the 2027 class, already landing four-star EDGE Taven Epps, while showing a tremendous amount of interest in several other recruits.

One player they’ve been making a push for is quarterback Kavian Bryant out of Palestine, Texas, as they hosted him for a camp on June 5, which was his first unofficial visit with the program.

It’s clear that the Longhorns have already made an impression on him as well, and while talking to Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman, he revealed what’s stuck out to him and whether or not his goals fit with Texas.

“To be the signal-caller at Texas comes with a lot, but the way the coaching staff gave me constructive criticism during the camp showed me that they take a lot of pride in the quarterback position,” Bryant said. “Texas has recently made it to the playoffs and had a chance to win it all — and that’s a goal for me to play for a school that could win it all.”

Of course, to hear that kind of thing is certainly good for Texas, as Bryant has established himself as one of the most sought-after prospects in the 2027 class, as Rivals places him as a four-star player and the No. 1 quarterback and the No. 40 player in the nation.

Last season for Westwood High School, he put up some impressive numbers, completing 120-of-146 passes for 2,442 yards, 34 touchdowns and three interceptions while also rushing for 709 yards and 11 touchdowns.

They aren’t the only high-level programs to try and make an early impression, as he’s also received offers and taken visits with the Michigan Wolverines and the Florida State Seminoles.

If Texas lands Bryant, it would mark the second straight year they secured the nation’s top quarterback prospect, after Dia Bell in the 2026 class.
