Giovanni Reyna is on the verge of leaving Borussia Dortmund this summer, as he has not been given enough playing time. Last week, rumors suggested Reyna would be heading to the MLS as LAFC had reportedly been leading the race to sign the midfielder.
Reyna never played in the MLS despite being part of the New York City FC academy. He joined Dortmund in 2019, but since 2023, his minutes have drastically decreased.
The American midfielder was loaned out to Nottingham Forest in 2024 for six months and played 14 games. Reyna made 26 appearances for Dortmund across all competitions this past season.
LAFC seemed as Reyna’s next destination, but Parma from Italy has reportedly made an offer that Dortmund may be willing to accept.
Parma’s Offer for Giovanni Reyna
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Parma offered nearly $7 million plus bonuses to sign Reyna from Dortmund. Parma stayed up in the Serie A in the past season, finishing 16th in the table.
The move appears more attractive for USMNT fans as they wish the player to prefer a move to a European team rather than playing in the MLS. The World Cup is less than a year away, and USMNT fans want their best players to be at their best level.
Despite reports, Fabrizio Romano suggests that LAFC is not in active talks for Reyna this summer. Tom Bogert also confirms there are no active talks between LAFC and Reyna. Bogert believes it could be Reyna’s agent reaching out to the MLS club.
