Mariners win MLB Draft by landing LSU's Kade Anderson later than anyone expected

The first two picks of the 2025 MLB Draft didn't go how anyone was expecting.

That put the Seattle Mariners in a tricky spot at No. 3 overall. Would they stick with a plan, or would they go with the best player on the board?

With the third pick, the Mariners ended up deciding to take LSU left-handed pitcher Kade Anderson.

In many mock drafts, he was expected to go No. 1 to the Washington Nationals.

Seattle just got a massive floor-ceiling combination at the third pick.

The 6-foot-2 Anderson was a star in the SEC. He's polished. He can get to the major leagues in short order.

And then he can develop into a frontline starter.

Getting him at the third pick is a massive win for Seattle.

LSU is a proven factory for MLB talent, and Anderson will likely be the latest to prove he belongs.

The 2025 draft started in a brilliant way for the Mariners.
