The consensus outlook for Aaron Glenn and his New York Jets in 2025 isn’t pretty, with most predicting a rather tough first year in the Big Apple for the former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator.
With wholesale changes both on and off the field, Glenn’s team will be looking to lay a solid foundation from which it can then build in the coming years.
Led by Justin Fields and Tanner Engstrand on offense, and with the defense expected to improve under Glenn’s watch, New York matching or bettering its 2024 record (5-12) seems like a realistic goal.
And former Jets guard Damien Woody thinks so too.
“If you look at this team, they’re strong on the offensive line, got a very good athlete at quarterback, strong backfield, defense should be pretty good, they could make noise later on,” Woody said on ESPN’s GetUp.

An offseason that has seen the Jets move in silence has garnered positivity with the franchise no longer being a sideshow act; instead, it is football and only football that has taken precedence for Glenn’s team.
There are question marks over Justin Fields and his ability to play consistent football, but he does the pieces around him in the offensive line and running backs, plus Garrett Wilson, to make something happen.
Defensively, with Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams being the barometers for Glenn’s unit, they “should” be better than last season.
Granted, we are projecting a lot here, but there’s reason to think New York might not be the easy beats everyone expects it to be in 2025.
