As of Sunday, star guard Caitlin Clark was “progressing” through imaging and consultations, per ESPN, but remained unlikely to face the New York Liberty on Tuesday, a rematch of June’s 102-88 thriller in which she dropped 32 points in her return from injury.
On Monday, IndyStar Sports reporter Chloe Peterson relayed coach Stephanie White’s latest comments of there being “no update on Caitlin Clark today, as she’s going to be meeting with doctors today and tomorrow,” White said, adding that Clark will still travel with the team to New York.
Despite optimism that she could return soon, the coaching staff “anticipate[s] her to be out tomorrow,” which would prolong her absence to 11 of the Indiana Fever’s first 24 games.

The Fever’s season has been a roller coaster thus far.
Coming off their first playoff berth since 2016, the Fever entered the year with renewed optimism under coach White’s second tenure and a series of shrewd offseason additions, such as Natasha Howard, Sophie Cunningham and two-time WNBA champion DeWanna Bonner.
Yet, now past the WNBA All-Star weekend, Indiana hovers at 12-11, sitting third in the Eastern Conference and sixth in the league standings, just on the playoff fringe and vying to solidify their position before the final stretch.

Amid that push, Clark’s availability has been a constant question mark.
In the final minute of their July 15 win over the Connecticut Sun, the 23‑year‑old guard pulled up abruptly, clutching her right thigh after a drive to the rim.
What was initially termed a “little something” in the groin has since been diagnosed as a right groin sprain, her third injury setback of the season following earlier quad and leg soreness that cost her five games in May and another multi‑week absence in late June.
Despite maintaining a roughly .500 record, Clark’s absence has rattled rotations, thrust young talents like Aari McDonald into greater roles and tested Indiana’s depth.
With just over half the regular season complete, every game matters as the Fever chase a deeper playoff run and as Clark’s body dictates how long the chase can last.
