Is the Heisman a 2-man race with three weeks to go in the regular season?
Ohio State QB Julian Sayin and Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza are now the co-favorites at BetMGM to win the award. Both Big Ten QBs have odds of +175 as Alabama’s Ty Simpson is now at +550 following the Crimson Tide’s win over LSU on Saturday night.

Sayin and Mendoza also led their teams to wins on Saturday. And Mendoza led a drive that will be replayed for the rest of the season in the Hoosiers’ 27-24 win at Penn State. After a sack on the first play of the drive, Indiana went 87 yards in nine plays as Mendoza found Omar Cooper Jr. for an incredible TD catch in the back of the end zone with 36 seconds to go.
Mendoza finished the game 19-of-30 passing for 218 yards and an interception to go along with the TD. He also rushed for 20 yards and a score. Penn State’s defense had played well until the final drive, as Indiana hadn’t scored a touchdown in the second half until Cooper’s catch.
Sayin is still on pace to break the FBS record for completion percentage after Ohio State’s 34-10 win over Purdue. He was 27-of-33 passing for 303 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The TD pass went to Jeremiah Smith, who had 10 catches for 137 yards. Smith’s odds to win the Heisman are fifth-best at 14-1.

Sayin’s completion percentage actually went up for the season after the game against Purdue. He’s 203-of-251 passing for 2,491 yards so far in 2025. That’s a completion percentage of 80.9% and approximately 3.5 points higher than Bo Nix’s record of 77.44%.
Simpson was 21-of-35 for 277 yards and a TD along with a fumble in Alabama’s 20-9 win over LSU that was not the most entertaining spectacle. The Tide are 6-0 in the SEC and tied atop the conference with Texas A&M. Aggies QB Marcel Reed is still the No. 4 favorite at +750 after A&M’s win over Missouri.
