Chiefs' Top Rival In 2025 Easy To Predict

Jul 18, 2025 7:32 AM EDT

The Kansas City Chiefs have been the gold standard for excellence since Patrick Mahomes was made the full-time starter, and everyone else is playing catch-up.

In the AFC, over the past couple of years, Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills have been the ones to consistently emerge as the Chiefs’ heavyweight opponent, and it has gone blow for blow in the regular season, winning the last four times.

But in the postseason, when it really matters, Mahomes and the Chiefs are 4-0 in their last four games.

As such, Sports Illustrated’s Matt Verderame has named the Bills as Kansas City’s biggest rivals.

“The Chiefs have turned the NFL into their playground over the past six years, reaching five Super Bowls and winning three,” Verderame writes. “If there’s one team that Kansas City respects, it’s Buffalo. The Bills have been a thorn for the Chiefs in the regular season, winning their matchups each of the four years. Kansas City has gotten revenge in the postseason, eliminating Buffalo in the 2020, ’21, ’23 and ’24 seasons.”

And as the football gods clearly want to see the Chiefs and Bills continue their rivalry, it will be Andy Reid and Co. that will venture to Highmark Stadium for the latest installment in 2025.

However, as we know, that doesn’t hold much weight for either team, because even if the Bills do defeat the Chiefs, which they have done numerous times in the playoffs, it won’t tilt the scales one way or the other in the court of public opinion.

Kansas City wins when it matters.

Mahomes and Allen appear to be set to continue this heavyweight battle for years to come, and Chiefs Kingdom hopes it continues to be one-sided in the postseason.
