The Chicago Sky made it two straight wins with a victory on Saturday, taking down the Minnesota Lynx 87–81 at Wintrust Arena. Ariel Atkins led the way with a stellar 27-point performance, while Angel Reese continued her remarkable sophomore campaign by posting her 40th career double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. The game also marked a big boost for Chicago’s frontcourt, with Kamilla Cardoso returning to the starting lineup to add 17 points and 15 rebounds.
Chicago led the half 57-44, thanks to quick early points from Reese and Atkins. The veteran guard concluded the first half with 16 points, shooting 80% from the field, while Reese finished with 15 points.
After the final buzzer, the Sky wasted no time throwing a little shade at their rivals. The team’s social media account posted the final score alongside a bold three-word message:
"THE WEAKEST LYNX."
Using Minnesota's name in the post, Chicago was direct in calling out its opponent after the upset victory.
Saturday’s win couldn’t come at a better time for the Sky, who have been desperate to turn their season around. The back-to-back victories have given the Sky a needed lift in the standings as they now improve to 7-13, ahead of the Dallas Wings and LA Sparks.
The Sky won’t have to wait long to prove this momentum is real — they host the Lynx again on Monday in a quick rematch at Wintrust Arena. With Atkins in scoring form, Reese relentless on the boards, and Cardoso back in the paint, the team looks to be finding its stride just when it matters most.
